Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp underwent an emergency appendectomy Monday and will need three to four weeks to recover. Blackhawks team physician Michael Terry said Sharp was experiencing some abnormal abdominal discomfort Monday. He said the surgery was successful. The Blackhawks open training camp this weekend.

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien has been arrested in Minnesota on suspicion of boating while intoxicated. Hennepin County Sheriff’s officials say the 26-year-old Byfuglien was arrested shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday on Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior, Minn.. A statement from the sheriff’s department says he refused to submit to a blood or urine test.
